Feminism & Personal Freedom

Jul 26, 2013

If you’re ever in need of a good laugh, I sincerely recommend you throw over to WhoNeedsFeminism.com. If you’re not already aware, Who Needs Feminism is a site where women and (I am ashamed to say) some men write a reason for why they need feminism on a piece of paper of some sort, eg. “I need feminism because sexual girl power traditional social construct empowerment rape culture blah blah vaginal superiority.”

Granted, for that level of sarcasm you’d need to go to WhoNeedsFeminism.org. This site is essentially one giant troll to their “dotcom” cousin; and a giant, sarcastic middle finger to feminism (They’re a non for profit organization, they just really want to get the information out there).

The reason I’m going into all this is simply because earlier I was surprised at just how many of the posts left me thinking, “And so to fix this… you would do… what exactly?”

Let me give you a few examples:

I need feminism because I should not have to worry about an ex of mine spreading rumors about how he “tapped me" all because he didn’t get his way. I broke up with him because I felt pressured when I was with him. & in return he told all of his guy friends (and they told their friends) that he had sex with me. http://whoneedsfeminism.tumblr.com/post/56180423425/i-need-feminism-because-i-should-not-have-to-worry

I need feminism because I’m tired of being labelled a “miserable bitch" or being told to “lighten up" when I call out my (generally male) friends for using sexist/rape-based jokes, or jokes about lesbianism/queer women IT’S NOT FUNNY - you are not superior because you’re male. I AM NOT INFERIOR because I’m female. I will not allow myself or my identity to be trivialised or objectified during lunchtime (or whenever one may make such comments). (calling me a bitch will not stop you being sexist)

I need FEMINISM because when talking about women’s rights, someone came up to me and said, “Women are only good for keeping our stomachs full and our testicles empty."

Notice the similarity between all of these? If you were to go to each of these girls and ask them what they want done about it, the answers would almost certainly be “They shouldn’t be allowed to say that stuff anymore!”
So then the question to ask simply is, what ACTUALLY would you do about it? Ban it? Pass legislation to prohibit people saying anything to offend you or any other delicate flower in the entire country? Label “rape jokes” as “hate speech”? Make it a crime for anyone to openly disagree with the feminist doctrine? Freedom of speech anyone? Oh and in 2012 a radical group of feminists in Europe wanted to ban wolf-whistling and men calling women “darling”. YES. They want to take away men’s whistling rights.
Oh but there’s more:

I need feminism because my choice of attire is not invitation for you to stare.

Not only do they wish to take away our freedom of speech, but this young girl is after our looking rights! Because somehow, male appreciation of a female’s “feminine attributes” is offensive to her? Forgiving me for jumping to conclusions but I can’t help but feel as though this is eerily… Socialist? Or communist or fascist or whatever trendy word is being tossed around these days.

But I know what you’re thinking, “Dude you’re just over reacting, that’d never really happen, chill about it bro it’s just a coupe feminists with they’re panties up in a bunch.” I wish I could agree. But it could happen, and it already is. Adria Richards got a man fired from his job because he was sitting behind Adria, making a dick jokes about a “dongles” to his friend at a tech conference.

JudgyBitch did a hilarious and excellent article on it here if you’re interested in learning more.

What IS sexist is Adria deciding that the simple fact of owning a vagina gives her the right to decide what is and is not funny in any given situation.  Waltzing through life believing you are owed special consideration because you are a WOMAN and you deserve to never be offended is sexist.  Why should anyone believe they have the right to never be offended?
The future is dark people, The Red Pill is our symbol of rebellion.

Viva La Puerachy.
And Cheers.

The thing that is strange about all these needs is that the women need someone else to solve their problem. What about just taking a little responsibility and solving it yourself? Or just sucking it in, because you don’t always get your way, that’s the way life is.

    • If a girl get’s drunk and falls off a roof, do the feminists blame the house or the roof? You can’t the blame the victim!! :P

if she doesnt want stares she can just wear a burkha. theres nothing wrong with looking

  3. Women don’t have a problem with men looking at their cleavage, as long as they get to choose which men look at them. I bet Brad Pitt could stare any of these feminists all day long, smack one of them on her ass, and she’d still go make him a sandwich.
